ADMISSION PROCEDURE

GENERAL ADMISSION

  1. Candidates seeking admission to the University for first degree courses must obtain and complete the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms and take the examination.
  2. For Admission to all courses, candidates must satisfy the admission requirements of the University. For some courses; additional School or Department requirements have to be satisfied.
  3. New Admissions will normally be made only in September or October every year.
  4. At the time of registration at this University, each candidate will be required to present the originals of the certificates or any other acceptable evidence of the qualifications on the basis of which the offer of admission has been made.
  5. If it is discovered at any time that a candidate does not possess any the qualifications which he or she claims to have obtained, he or she will be expelled from the University.
  6. Students shall, on admission pay to be University, all the fees prescribed by regulations.

REGULATIONS GOVERNING GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL THE SCHOOLS

All courses are of five years duration except for Architecture, which is for six years. Admission to all courses is mainly through the U.M.E

  1. Entry Requirements:
    1. 5 'O' level credit passes at not more than two sittings preferably including English Language.
    2. However a pass in English Language in any of the following examinations would be acceptable viz:
      • Pass in H.S.C General Paper
      • Pass at H.S.C or G.C.E. 'A' Level English Literature.
      • Credit or Merit in English Language in Teachers' Grade II Certificate Examination.
      • Pass in N.C.E. English major or General English.
    3. Subsidiary pass in H.S.C or G.C.E. 'A' level credit or merit in Teachers' Grade II or credits or Merit or Distinctions in N.C.E. can be combined with SC or GCE 'O' Level Credit to give the required five 'O' Level Credit passes. No Subject shall, however, be counted at both ordinary and advanced levels

    NOTE: The Five Credit passes or equivalent must be obtained at not more than two sittings including credit passes in English Language and Mathematics.

  1. Direct Entry Requirements:
    Candidates must satisfy the University 'O' level requirements and have 'A' or other requirements as stated for each course.
  2. Transfer Candidates:
    Candidates wishing to transfer from other Universities shall be required to hold the minimum qualifications for entry into the university.

    Application forms for admission by transfer are available, on payment of an application fee of N500:00 from the Admissions Officer, Academic Registry, Federal University of Technology, P.M.B. 704 Akure.

    Completed applications should be submitted not later than the end of July.

  3. Deferment Of Admission:

    Deferment of Admission shall not be considered unless the candidate has fully satisfied school and departmental requirements for registration and has very cogent reasons for the deferment of his or her admission.

    Application for the deferment of admission shall be forwarded to the Admissions Officer, not later than the middle of the first semester.
