Department of Estate Management

Degree Option: B. Tech (Estate Management)

Programme Philosophy

The Department is established to produce competent estate surveyors and valuers with sufficient technical knowledge and skills to optimize the use of land resources to facilitate economic development.

The Objectives of the Programmes are:

  • Instill in students an appreciation of the complex nature of the relationships between man and his environment.
  • Involve the students in an intellectually stimulating an satisfying experience of learning and studying.
  • Provide a broad and balanced foundation of the knowledge of land and buildings and their exploitation and use.
  • Develop in the students the ability to apply their analytical skills to the solution of theoretical and practical land resource problems
  • Develop in the students, entrepreneurial skills of value in self employment in the profession.
  • Develop in the students, survival skills in an everchanging economic, technological and political world.
  • Lay the foundation on which students can proceed to further studies in specialized aspects of estate surveying practice or multi-disciplinary areas involving estate surveying and valuation.
  • Create an appreciation of the importance of estate surveying and valuation in an industrial, environmental, economic and social context.
  • Develop the students in the use of in for mat ion technology in the effective management of land and the environment.

Admission Requirements

The entry requirements for the five-year programme are five (SSCE, WASC or GCE) 0' Level credits at not more that two sittings. The credits should include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two others from Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Biology, Fine Art and Technical Drawing.

Students may be admitted to the Year II of the programme if they have the following in addition to the above:

  1. Two good passes at G.C.E. Advance Level in Mathematics, Economics, Economics, Geography and Chemistry.
  2. OND/HND in Estate Management and/or fields relevant to Environmental Planning, Design and Management with at least Upper Credit score.
