The Health Center started on 22nd February 1983 with a single nurse to provide first aid treatment to individuals and has since grown to staff strength of 44.

The scope of services provided has continued to expand to meet the growing needs of the University community.

Objectives
The objectives of the health services sub-unit of the University include:
1. The surveillance of diseases prevalent in the community.
2. The promotion of health among members of the University community
3. The prevention of diseases through health education, environmental sanitation, immunization and other preventive measures.
4. The treatment of common disease conditions.

Services Provided
1. Out-Patient Services
(a). Daily consultations are done in the clinic as follows:

Senior staff and dependents 8.00 am - 10.00am
Students : 10.00 am - 12.00 pm
Junior staff 12.00 pm - 2.00 pm

(b) Emergencies are seen during and after clinic hours, on weekends and public holidays.
(c) The maternal and child health and family planning clinics run concurrently with the routine clinic consultations. Laboratory and X-Ray services are also open to members of the University community during and after working hours. The Center further In-Patient care, ambulance services, operating the are services, solid waste disposal and environmental sanitation.
