Department of Industrial Design
Degree Option: B. Tech (Industrial Design)

Programme Philosophy

The Industrial Design Programme is concerned with the development of creative strategies in the provision of technological solutions to problems that are related to the specific needs of industry and the society in general. The programme places emphasis on the development of high professional skills, exploration and development of indigenous materials in the areas of ceramics, Graphic and Textile Designs.

The Objectives of the Programmes are:

  • Provide students with appropriate training and adequate intellect in the acquisition of skills and technological proficiency necessary for effective translation of creative designs to finish products.
  • Raise the level of aesthetic and cultural awareness in the students.
  • Guide students to use their creative skills to enhance and add breadth to the quality of living.

U.M.E Subjects or Entry Require Subject:

English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, and any of Fine Art, Physics, Geography or Economics. 5 'O' Level credits including Mathematics, Chemistry, English and 2 of the followings: Economics, Physics, Technical Drawing, Fine Art and Geography. Credit or Pass in Fine Art will be an additional advantage, while a pass grade in Physics wi1I be acceptable.

Admission Requirements

Admission is normally through the University Matriculation Examination (UME). In exceptional cases, holders of the National Diploma (ND) & Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate from recognized institutions may also be considered for admission into the second year, provided they meet minimum entrance requirements, and have passed in relevant subjects in the ND examinations at credit level.
