Programme Philosophy

The Department of Physics is designed to train students in the theory and applied aspects of physics.
The Objectives of the Programmes are:

  • To impart in the students the fundamentals of the main branches of physics.

  • To provide them with opportunity for integrating theoretical physics with practical in all branches of physics.

  • To expose the students to all aspects of applied physics sine qua non to the development of Solid State Electronics and Energy.

  • To equip the students with capability for research and development in all areas of theoretical and applied physics.

Admission Requirements
Five O' Level credit passes including Physics, Mathematics, and with at least a pass in Chemistry,. In addition to these, and Chemistry/ Biology/Agric. Science.
UME candidates are expected to obtain and pass English, Physics and Mathematics.

Requirements for Graduation

To be eligible for the award of the degree of Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) Honours in Physics Electronics or Energy, a student must satisfy ;

  • The University requirements, satisfactory completion (pass) of all GNS (General School Courses).

  • The School of Sciences requirements by passing all the foundation courses.

  • The departmental requirement by passing all the departmental compulsory courses and electives.


NEWS ITEM   
The department of physics publishes a scientific journal named:
''Nigeria Journal of Pure and Applied Physics, NJPAP''. This journal publishes original results of research in all branches of pure and Applied Physics, Engineering etc. Contributions to NJPAP are welcome at all times".
