The department of Works and Services which was created at the inception of the University in 1982 as a Service Unit has grown in both relevance and staff strength.

The Unit is responsible for the maintenance of University houses, vehicles, and other infrastructural facilities and equipment other than those in the laboratories.

It consist of the following Sections that take care of various aspects of the services:

• Administration Building
• Mechanical Section
• Transport Section
• Electrical Section
• Building Section
• Civil/Water Section
• Power Generation and Distribution.

The Unit is headed by a Director who is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for day-to-day supervision of its main duties.
