Collection Development Division
This division is headed by a Principal Librarian who coordinates and supervises the day to day activities of staff to ensure effective service delivery.
The division oversees the two following units viz:
- Acquisitions
- Bibliographic Research and Documentation (BRD).
Acquisitions Unit: It is saddled with the responsibilities of selecting, evaluating and acquiring library resources (printed) through purchases, Gifts, and Exchanges, donations, etc. The regular purchase is based by annual Education Trust fund Intervention Project.
Bibliographic Research Division (BRD) Unit: The Unit has amongst its collections projects, Postgraduate such as PGD, Masters and Ph.D, theses and dissertations which cut across all the Departments of the Institution. Other collections consist of State and Federal Governments’ documents; materials from NUC; FAO publications; newsletters, reports, bulletins from Parastals, Ministries and government agencies; publications from research Institutions; as well as from Universities within and outside the country. Publications from International Organizations are from WHO, UNICEF, ILO, World Bank, IMF, and from multi-national oil companies, like; Chevron, Shell, Exxon Mobil, etc. abound in the Unit. There are Convocation lectures, Inaugural lectures and other Publications that emanate from FUTA that are part of the Unit’s resources.
BDR is however, restricted to Postgraduate students, Faculty members, researchers and staff within and outside the University community. Undergraduate students may be considered to have access to the resources with the discretion of the Librarian in-charge.
