Introduction
The Students’ Affairs Office is an integral arm all matters relating to students’ welfare within the University System. The Division is responsible for the general welfare of students and covers all committees and Boards relating to students’ matters.
The Division is headed by the Dean of Students’, who is a professor and is assisted by the Students’ Affairs Officer.
The Head of the Division is directly responsible to the Vice-Chancellor in the day-to-day administration of the Division. Apart from liaising with the Students’ Union on relevant matters, the Division is charged with encouraging the formation and registration of student’s organizations, clubs and societies in the University.
The Division also has a unit that undertakes career and counseling issues among the students. The unit provides professional services in the areas of academic support services, career/vocational development, and graduate recruitment, orientation programmes for fresh students, referral/ liaison/consultation and counseling services. The Division aims at promoting other extra-curricula activities including sport and recreation in the University.

Students accommodation
The total number of available bed spaces in the University is 1,515 which could cater for about 20% of the total population of the students. however, each student is assigned to a hall of residence as member and is expected to participate in all the activities of the assigned Hall.
- The division oversees the allocation, supervision and co-ordination of activities of students in the Halls of residence.
- Handling of all matters relating to damages and maintenance of Hall/facilities e. g.
- Arrangements for vacations accommodations on request.
- The Division provides assistance to students seeking off-campus accommodation through its off-campus Housing Bureau Services.
- Handling of all matters relating to students/landlord conflicts, and other cases of off-campus misconduct
Catering Services
In line with the Federal Government directive, the university no longer runs cafeteria for feeding students. Against this background, students are encouraged to cook in the appropriate designated kitchenettes located in the Halls of Residence.
There are also some eating houses popularly called ‘bukateria’ which are located in and outside the first and second gates of the campus.
These eating houses provide opportunities for choices of wide variety of dishes on a la carte’ basis. Staff and Students alike often patronize these eating houses. Besides, there are butteries in all the students Halls of Residence and the Students Union Secretariat. A mini-supermarket is also available on campus which gives student, the opportunity to meet various daily needs.
Students Information Services:
The division has set necessary machineries in motion for the commencement of student information service center. This will among other things perform the following functions:
Students’ Union:
The membership of the students’ Union is voluntary. Membership is open to all matriculated students of the University and renewable at the beginning of every session on payment of membership annual dues payable to the designated accounts of the Students’ Union.
Sports and Recreational Facilities:
Those who are accommodated in the Halls of Residence pay hall dues on sessional basis.
The University Sports Council is charged with training and coaching students in the various aspects of sports and recreational activities. To this end, the University sets aside every wednesday afternoon as lecture free to enable students engage in various sporting activities. However, students are free apart from Wednesday afternoon, to train at other convenient times.
Postal & Telecommunication Services:
The University places considerable importance on postal services. Hence, in 1990, the University established a postal agency on campus to serve the community. The Postal Agency is located within Jeremiah Useni builiding. Telephone services are also available at various locations within the campus.
Banking facilities:
There are three full Banking facilities in the University:
Aside from the fact that these banks have cash collection points (ATM), which function throughout the week, the Intercontinental bank Plc also located one of its cash collection points (ATM), beside the University Administrative building, With these banking facilities, students and staff are able to have accounts and transact other financial business.
