PHCN promises better power supply

The Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Akure branch has promised to assist the University actualize its dreams of providing and supplying sufficient power to enable it thrive in the area of teaching and research.


The Business Manager of the Akure branch, Engr. W.I. Ikiriko who said this at a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor appreciated the existing challenges facing PHCN, thereby hampering adequate supply of power.


He however noted that the University community was one to give priority to in order to enable it carry out its activities efficiently. On this note, he assured the University that the Company would do everything within its reach to meet the University’s needs.


Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebisi Balogun thanked the team for making out time to visit the University and appreciate its problems. He thanked the management of PHCN for being available to cater for the needs of the University each time there was a demand.


He commended the commitment and assistance rendered to the University by the Company for the acquisition of a dedicated power line and assured them of the University’s continued support towards the existing partnership.


He also urged the officials to put more effort into supplying adequate power to the University to avoid conflict between the Company and the University’s students as it had been in the past.
