SURCON donates equipment to FUTA

The Surveyors Registration Council of Nigeria, Ondo State Branch has donated Surveying equipment to the department of Surveying and Geoinformatics of the Federal University of Technology, Akure.
The equipment include a Total Station NTS 352 R with complete accessories, Automatic Level (2no.), Aluminium Tripod ATs5 (2No.), Aluminium Tripod ATS 1 (1No.), Leveling staff (4No.), Tracking rod, Ranging Pole, Prism, 100 meter tape (6No.) and 50 meter tape (6 No.).
Presenting the items to the University, the Chairman of Surveyors Registration Council of Nigeria, Ondo State Branch, who is also the Surveyor – General of Ondo State, Surveyor G.A. Agunbiade lamented that for several years, Surveying, as a course was not offered in any University in the South West, except University of Lagos, whereas institutions in the North and East offered Surveying many years before the course became popular in the South-West.
Surveyor Agunbiade pointed out that it was as a result of the determination of the Ondo State Branch of the Surveyors Registration Council of Nigeria to give a boost to the teaching of Surveying and Geoinformatics in the South West that the donations were made to the Federal University of Technology, Akure for early commencement of the teaching of Surveying and Geoinformatics in the University. He added that his council would make more donations to the University in no distant future.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the University management, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Debo Adeyewa thanked the Surveyors Registration Council of Nigeria, Ondo State Branch for the kind gesture. He assured the donors that the equipment will be put into judicious use.
