Vacancy announcement at association of african universities (AAU)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to occupy the position of the Secretary-General (SG) of the Pan-African and Multi-lingual higher education association which already has membership from over 220 Institutions in the five major regions of Africa.


The Secretary-General who shall be responsible to the Governing Board and the General Conference is expected to in addition to interpersonal skills, have a very strong skill of Management in a transforming environment.


The criteria for qualification for this vacancy in addition to personal skills, include the following:

Consultative and inclusive management style

Experience in high-level fund raising and a commitment to providing personal leadership to the fund-raising work of the Association.

Ability to understand the key financial issues facing the Association and to provide leadership on the policy implications which they raise;

Experience in the Management of resources on an appropriate scale.

Fluency in one of the AAU languages (English, Fresh or Arabic) Good oral and communication skills in both languages will be an added advantage.
