The legal unit is under the supervision of the Vice-Chancellor and the officer in charge of the unit is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor on the matters pertaining to legal and other incidentals. The unit is headed by a professional legal practitioner. It is headed by a Principal Assistant Registrar (Legal).
The Unit:
(i) Attends to all legal issues referred to it.
(ii) Renders advisory services to all arms of the University
(iii) Drafts agreement and legal documents.
(iv) Liaises with University solicitor
(v) Represents the University in court
Other ad hoc duties of the unit include:
(i) Membership of investigation panels
(ii) Membership of disciplinary panels
