B.Agric. Tech. (Ecotourism and Wildlife Management)
PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY
- The philosophy of this programme is to provide functional education for undergraduate and postgraduate students who eventually after the training will be job-makers rather than job seekers
- The academic programme takes adequate cognizance of the requirements for the different areas in ecotourism, wildlife, and environmental protection and management sub-sector of agricultural production with the aim of meeting the need for manpower requirements in this sub-sector
- The products of this programme will be required for rational exploitation and utilization of Nigerians biodiversities and wildlife as renewable natural resources mainly for food production, industrial biomaterials, tourism and environmental protection
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
- provide education in the science and technology of ecotourism, environmental protection and management and wildlife resources management for skilled manpower needs of the country
- provide opportunities for good oriented research in ecotourism, wildlife and environmental protection and management relevant to the country’s need in general and local needs in particular
- offer the public the results of research and foster the practical application of these results to benefit the immediate communities and the country’s at large in economic empowerment, poverty alleviation, and eradication of hunger, ignorance, stagnation, and diseases
- get involve in sustainable wildlife production, ecotourism and environmental protection and management through collaborations with the Federal and State governments, parastatals, institutes and other international organizations in the area of wildlife production and management, ecotourism and environmental protection
- in accordance with the millennium agenda of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the programme will provide basic ingredients for accelerated meat production, to alleviate poverty and hunger, and it will also bring closer the University to its surrounding communities through self sustainable ecotourism, recreation and sound environmental protection and management policies
