PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of this programme is to provide functional education for undergraduate and postgraduate students who eventually after the training will be jobmakers rather than job seekers. The academic programme take adequate cognizance of the requirements of the different areas in Fisheries and Acaculture subsector of agricultural production with the aim of meeting the need of the manpower requirements in this sector that will ensure rational exploitation and utilization of Fish and Acuaculture as renewable natural resources mainly for food production and industrial biomaterials that are based on sound technological principles.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
The major objectives of the programme are to:
(i) provide education in the science and technology of Fisheries and Acuaculture resources management for skilled manpower needs of the country.
(ii) provide opportunities for good oriented research in Fisheries and Acuaculture relevant to the country’s need in general and local needs in particular.
(iii) offer the public the results of research and foster the practical application of these results.
(iv) get involved in sustainable fish and acuaculture production through collaborations with the Federal and State Governments Parastatals, Institutes and other International Organizations in the areas of Fisheries and Acuaculture production and management.
(v) To provide functional education for undergraduates and postgraduate students who eventually after their training will be job-makers rather than job-seekers.
