Department of Applied Geology
DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME AND STRUCTURE

The B.Tech (Applied Geology) programme is primarily designed for five academic sessions for candidates who enter the University through the UME. However, direct entry candidates are permitted to spend four academic sessions in the programme, the first two sessions of the programme are devoted to taking courses in basic sciences, engineering, agriculture and humanities. Of the remaining three sessions during which attention is focussed on the core and specialised geology courses, 6 months are spent on industrial attachment and training (SIWES) during the fourth year. As a means of further widening their conceptual horizons in other fields of human endeavour which is expected to put them in better positions to face the multi-facetted challenges of life, capable students are provided with opportunities from their third year to select, on a basis of free-will, some courses that are outside the list of traditionally required courses for registration as free or optional electives.
