DEGREE OPTION: B.TECH (mathematical science) Philosophy and Objectives Programme Philosophy The programme is designed to equip students with adequate knowledge and skills Mathematics with focus on application in solving real life and industrial problems. Programme Objectives The objectives of the programme are: 1. To develop and give academic and professional training in all areas of Mathematics for the development of latent power of thinking of individuals. 2. To provide and promote sound basic pract5ical and theoretical training in Mathematics as foundation for technological development in Nigeria. 3. To identify the basic scientific and technological problems in area of Mathematics and find appropriate solutions to them. 4. To provide students with basic knowledge in Computer Science to solve real-life problems in areas of agriculture, commerce, industry, medicine and other disciplines that requires the knowledge of Mathematics. 5. To give training for the purpose of job placement in the industries for self-actualisation. 6. To develop and offer academic and professional programmes as a foundation for post-graduate studies. 7. To offer service courses in Mathematics and Statistics to other Departments in the University. |
