DEGREE OPTION: B.TECH (PROJECT MANAGEMENT)

Philosophy and Objectives

The Degree Option in Project Management reflects the technology emphasis of the University i.e. technology for self-reliance.  Thus beyond technical expertise, the student also requires management expertise.  The ‘total’ graduate produced is able to plan, manage and control technological and technical projects for the total welfare of the society.  The programme, based upon a foundation of mathematics, economics compute application, basic science and engineering, combines management disciplines such as production, accounting, marketing and human resources required to execute  physical and economic projects both in private and public sectors with utmost efficiency.  Thus science and technology are harnessed to achieve the macro goal of economic growth and development for increased welfare.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
Graduates of  Project Management Technology will typically be employed as staff analysts in industry and government, as systems analysts or in a wide variety of public and private sector organizations where a high degree of analytical and practical ability is required.  The objectives of the degree option are to:

  1. train students to acquire skills in all areas of management;
  2. produce graduates with science technological background that will manage the productive resources most efficiently;
  3. produce graduates that will execute physical and public sectors of the economy;
  4. train students with expertise needed in National Development Plans and Projects;
  5. produce graduate who will harmonize their technical and management knowledge and skill to accelerate the industrial development of the nation;
  6. produce graduates who are truly self-reliant as enterprise managers; and
  7. produce graduates who will have competitive edge in the labour market.
