NLNG FUTA ALUMNI GROUP GIVES SCHOLARSHIHP TO FUTA STUDENTS
 
Alumni of the Federal University of Technology, Akure working with the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas
Limited (NLNG) have awarded scholarships of N50,000.00 each to seven shortlisted qualified 300 level
students with the highest CGPA in the seven schools of the Institution. At the presentation, the Vice
Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape represented by the Dean, Students Affairs, Professor Gbenga Onibi
commended the Alumni for the scholarship describing it as a noble gesture worthy of emulation.
He said it will spur the beneficiaries to work harder and also inculcate the spirit of giving back in the
students in the future, whenever they are in a position to do so. Professor Fuwape said the University is
proud of its alumni who have over time developed a distinctive culture of giving back to the Institution
and expressed optimism that the donation will go a long way to encourage the students and assist them
financially. On his part the Director, Advancement Centre, Professor Afolabi Akindahunsi said FUTA
Alumni are raising the stakes in giving back to the Institution in the form of cash, structures and capacity
building. He said education funding should not be left to the government alone while admonishing the
beneficiaries not to relent but redouble their efforts in attaining academic excellence.
Mr. Jamiu Ali on behalf of NLNG FUTA Alumni Group said t the scholarship shall be N50, 000.00
annually and awarded to the best performing 300 level student in each of the seven schools of the
University. He said this will be defined by the student with the highest absolute CGPA at the end of the
second semester and awarded at the beginning of the second semester of 300 level.

Responding on behalf of the recipients, Mr. Audu J. B. reiterated that the donation is an encouragement
and value addition that will aid them in their academic pursuit. He thanked the donors for their kind gesture
and promised not to relent in striving for excellence.
