ICDL FUTA TETFund Training programme

We are pleased to inform you that FUTA is benefiting from 2016-2018 IT intervention by TETFund with 70% of the intervention for Training of Personnel  (The information about the Training to be handled by ICDL is contained in this email).

 

 

International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) is the world's leading computer skills certification in Microsoft office application for base, standard and advanced users in the Information Technology to enhance efficiency and deliver quality work. ICDL is the ideal ICT skill set that offers the right skills you need to succeed at work, educational pursuit and private endeavor.

 

 

The ICDL programme defines the skills and competencies necessary to use a computer and common computer applications. It offers a wide range of modules including Computer Essentials, Word Processing and IT Security. Candidates take tests in the modules which are most relevant to their educational and professional requirements, thereby creating their ICDL Profile. Whether in school, university or in the workplace, ICDL offers the skills you need to succeed. 

 

 

 

 

 

The training objectives are to:

·         Raise the general level of competency in ITT

·         Improve productivity at work

·         Reduce user support costs

·         Enable employers to invest more efficiently in IT

·         Ensure that best practice and quality issues are understood and implemented.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

·         Establish a computer competency standard for current and new employees

·         Improve employee productivity and increase returns from investments in IT

·         Reduce IT support costs

·         Identify training needs of employees and measure the efficacy of training programs

·         Use ICDL as an effective model for designing fundamental IT education and training in the organization

·         Reduce the inherent risks in recruiting, hiring and promotion decisions

·         Help motivate staff, increase their self-esteem and sense of achievement.


COURSE OUTLINE

Staff of the University have the choice of choosing from the following modules based on their Computer knowledge level:


Base Modules

·         Image Editing

·         Web Editing

·         Project planning

·         Online Collaboration

·         2D Computer Aided Design

 

Advanced Modules

·         Advanced Word Processing

·         Advanced Spreadsheets

·         Advanced Database

·         Advanced Presentation

 

The programme is targeted at all academic and non-academic staff that do not possess requisite computer skills.

 

 

Therefore interested members of staff are requested to send their details (full name, designation, status (teaching or non-teaching), phone number, email address, sex, school/department, training module (Base, Intermediate or Advanced) to:

The closing date for registration is May 17, 2019. The training date shall be communicated later. PLS NOTE ANY REQUEST FROM NON-FUTA EMAIL SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

ICDL MODULES (Please study and indicate any one)

 

BASE MODULES

ICDL Base modules certify skills that are considered essential skills because they are crucial for anyone who uses a computer to possess.

 

Computer Essentials module will teach you the essential concepts and skills relating to the use of devices, file creation and management, networks and data security.

 

Online Essentials module will teach you the essential concepts and skills relating to web browsing, effective information search, online communication and e-mail.

 

Word Processing module teaches you to use a word processing application to accomplish everyday tasks associated with creating, formatting and finishing small-sized word processing documents, such as letters and other everyday documents

 

Spreadsheets module teaches you to understand the concept of spreadsheets and to use a spreadsheet application. It will enable you to perform tasks associated with developing, formatting, modifying and using a spreadsheet, to use standard formulas and functions, and to competently create and format graphs or charts.

 

 Intermediate Modules

ICDL Intermediate modules complement our range of Base modules. They will enable you to develop your skills in knowledge areas that are appropriate for your everyday life, or for your job role.

 

PRESENTATION module will enable you to demonstrate competence in using presentation tools on a computer. It will teach you to perform tasks such as creating, formatting, modifying and preparing presentations using different slide layouts for display and printed distribution.

 

USING DATABASES module develops work-based skills. It will enable you to understand the main concepts of databases and demonstrate the ability to use a database application. This includes creating and modifying tables, queries, forms and reports, and preparing outputs ready for distribution, as well as learning to relate tables and to retrieve and manipulate information from a database by using query and sort tools.

 

PROJECT PLANNING module has been developed to enable you, the computer user (rather than IT professionals) to use project management software to prepare project plans and monitor projects including planning and managing time, costs, tasks, and resources. These skills can be applied to both work and home-based projects.

 

DIGITAL MARKETING module sets out essential concepts and skills relating to the fundamentals of digital marketing, including creating a web presence, optimising content for search engines, using social media platforms, carrying out online marketing and advertising across a range of servies, as well as monitoring and improving campaigns using analytics.

 

IT SECURITY module has been developed to enable you, the computer user (rather than IT professionals), to identify and protect yourself and their organisation from common security challenges when using ICT. It will also teach you how to operate safely when online.

 

ONLINE COLLABORATION module teaches you how to effectively collaborate on online/remote project, either for work or study. It sets out concepts and skills relating to the setup and use of online collaborative tools, such as storage, productivity applications, calendars, social media, web meetings, learning environments, and mobile technology.

 

DIGITAL MARKETING module sets out essential concepts and skills relating to the fundamentals of digital marketing, including creating a web presence, optimising content for search engines, using social media platforms, carrying out online marketing and advertising across a range of servies, as well as monitoring and improving campaigns using analytics.

 

ICT IN EDUCATION module sets out knowledge and skills relating to the pedagogically effective use of ICT to support and enhance teaching, learning and assessment in the classroom.

 

ADVANCED MODULES

ICDL Advanced modules will enable you to become a ‘power user’/perform advanced actions in four of the most commonly used applications. These modules are aimed at the work user who needs to demonstrate an in depth knowledge of these applications in the course of their job role. Prior to taking an ICDL Advanced module, it is recommended that you will already have successfully completed the respective ICDL module, however this is not mandatory.

 

Advanced Word Processing module will provide you with the ability to use the advanced features of word processing applications to enhance your work, improve productivity and save time. By successfully completing this module you will acquire a skill set over and above the routine features of the software.

 

Advanced Spreadsheets module will enable you to master the more advanced functions of spreadsheet applications, enabling you to produce more sophisticated reports, and to perform complex mathematical and statistical calculations. These skills will save you considerable amounts of time and will improve your productivity.

 

Advanced Database module will enable you to maximise advanced database functions, in order to manage and analyse high volumes of data. This will enable you to efficiently produce the quantity and quality of information that business today demands.

 

Advanced Presentation module covers advanced presentation features that will allow you to use the presentation application to its full potential, and to plan and design more effective presentations that have greater impact and that will better engage and involve an audience.
