Behavioral Coach Stresses Importance of Good Character at FUTA Alumni Workshop for Students

Good character in business practices and entrepreneurship is a key factor to improve self-sufficiency and sustainability.  Mr. Idide Osayande, facilitator, Social Watch Dog, SWD stated this while delivering a lecture at the 2019 FUTA Alumni Association Worldwide workshop for students  tagged “Entrepreneur:  What Is It to Be One?  The event held at the Theodore Francis Idibiye Auditorium, FUTA on 31st July, 2019.  Osayande, an Attitudinal and Behavioural Coach, said success tops the desire of almost all individuals. He however stated that the two indispensable routes to guarantee an outstanding success include character and competence. He said character and competence complement each other.  He said character depicts the manner in which an individual thinks feels and behaves, adding that to a great extent character determines the level of ones success in life.  According to him ones character can render competence meaningful or useless.

He said to be a successful entrepreneur; it is pertinent to require recommendations from time to time.  Mr. Idede stated that without good character, no good recommendation can be made of an individual.  His words: “A good character gives stamina in times of crises; a good character gives you the winning advantage in times of competition while competence can get you a recommendation character will seal the deal”.  He added that while building competence, one should endeavor to build a good and lasting character.

The President of FUTA Alumni Association Worldwide Olaitan Adesomoju said the workshop was put together to ginger the entrepreneurial   spirit of students and equip them with the tools they need for success. He   urged the 300 level students present to seize the opportunity the workshop affords them to develop entrepreneurial skills for the future. In a remark, the Director of Centre for Entrepreneurship (CENT) Professor Helen Ogunsuyi commended the effort of the Alumni Association for always giving back to the institution.  She said the activities of the Centre focuses on developing self sustainability in students by exploring their entrepreneurial capabilities.  Professor Ogunsuyi said with the help of the Management CENT is resolutely committed  to its mandate and would be willing to collaborate with the Alumni Association to further deepen the entrepreneur prowess of students of FUTA.
