Commissioner of Police visits FUTA VC, pledges better relationship with FUTA


The new Commissioner of Police Ondo state Command, Mr. Asabi Abiodun on Tuesday, November 6, 2023 paid a courtesy visit on the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology Akure as part of efforts to solidify the cordial relationship existing between the two parties. Speaking at the occasion, the commissioner said “I am familiar with FUTA. I visited first as an area commander and I have always been a part of this community. And I make bold to say that the university community is a peaceful one “ Pledging the continued support of the Police towards the security of the university he said “we are partners in progress and stakeholders when it pertains to students. We both working to ensure that the students’ lives are safe. We will continue to protect the lives and properties of members of the university community. We will ensure that security wise students will attest that their stay in FUTA was worthwhile security wise” Asabi said whatever happens to students has a spiral effect on the activities of the university so the police will improve its security cover to ensure that issues are resolved amicably before they escalate. He also reiterated the commitment of the Police force to a renewed and more active partnership with FUTA. In her response the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji thanked the Commissioner for the visit saying that gesture was much appreciated as matters of security was of utmost importance to the university. She said the university management was grateful for the surveillance of the police around the university campus and was optimistic that their services will continue to safeguard the lives and property of staff and students of the university. She said “our student population is large and so we need to work together. Students have their own peculiarities but we know that you are capable of handling this effectively and efficiently”.
