ALUMNI SHOULD SUPPORT THEIR ALMA MATER-FUTA ALUMNI PRESIDENT


 

The new President of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA Alumni Association, Engr Adeyemi Bello, has canvassed for a sustained  improvement in the support of  members  for the growth and development of their Alma Mater. He gave the advice  during the inauguration of the new Executive Council of the Association on Thursday, December 9, 2021 in Akure. According to Adeyemi,” The FUTA Alumni worldwide will not relent in our support to the University in providing basic needs and infrastructure either through individuals, groups, graduating class of any set and chapters in the Diaspora”. He urged the University management to give projections and areas of need  in the areas of infrastructure so that the alumni body can also have a feel of pressing needs of the University and contribute its quota to enhancing the learning environment and the image of the University.

Adeyemi  said as the 10th President of the Federal University of Technology Akure , FUTA Alumni Association Worldwide he and his team will work closely with the University management and the Advancement Center in getting names and details of all graduates and create a robust website where everyone can relate and exchange information in order to provide a veritable platform to give back to the Institution . He said this will provide the needed strength to support the University in the areas of Infrastructure, research and technology enhancement. He said the Alumni Trust Fund ,which was set up to be a bridge or catalyst for the growth of the University,  would be revitalized in order for it to be more responsive to the needs of the University.

In his remarks at the ceremony , the Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape said, " we've enjoyed a fruitful relationship with the alumni and you have been passionate about the development of the University. The past executives worked hard to improve the University through significant contributions to development of infrastructure and human resources. It is my belief that the incoming executives will achieve greater feats for the University" He said "the University belongs to all of us and we determine the trajectory the University will move towards. We will continue to partner with the alumni to it take the University to greater heights."

The immediate past president, Comrade Olaitan Adesomoju , appreciated the University management for always supporting the alumni. He said, " I want to thank the University management for their unalloyed support to the alumni which has been of mutual benefits to both parties as the progress of the University is also  dependent on the strength and support of its alumni." He attributed the success of his administration to the support and commitment of the alumni body. He said it was a privilege to serve such a prestigious body stating that it was an opportunity that was not taken for granted. Adesomoju urged the incoming president and his team  to improve on existing legacies and to keep the flag of excellence flying. He also urged the University to extend a hand of fellowship to the executives for the development of the University.
