A lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, Federal University of Technology Akure FUTA Dr. Ayodeji Sunday Afolabi, has risen to prominence as an outstanding figure in the academic world.
On the 25th of October, 2023, Dr. Afolabi's exceptional contributions to education were celebrated on a grand stage. He was honoured as one of Nigeria's Outstanding Lecturers of the Year and an African Hero at the Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Art and Culture in Abuja. This recognition came from the Global Skills Hub in the United Kingdom, signifying the international impact of his work.
As an alumnus and esteemed lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Dr. Afolabi's journey is a testament to the transformative power of education.
Dr. Afolabi's journey began in 2009 when he graduated from FUTA with a degree in Industrial Mathematics with a First Class degree. Little did he know that his academic journey was only just beginning? He continued his pursuit of knowledge and earned a Ph.D. in Optimization/Optimal Control, further enriching his understanding of mathematics and its applications.
However, what truly sets Dr. Afolabi apart is not just his academic achievements, but his extraordinary dedication to teaching and the well-being of his students. His teaching methods are not only effective but also engaging, making him a favourite among students.
He is known for going the extra mile, taking a keen interest in his students' progress beyond the classroom. His approach is characterised by being highly supportive and diligent, ensuring that his students reach their full potential. He is fondly called ' Your Father Paid for it' by most of his students a takeaway from his constant admonition to them.
