ACCOLADES AS FUTA, REDEEMER’S REGISTRIES CELEBRATE ADEBAYO

 

In a show of profuse appreciation for an administrator per excellence, the University Management and staff of the Registry of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA and Redeemers University, Ede RUN on Thursday, January 9, 2020 organized a befitting 70th birthday celebration for Mr. Babatunde Adebayo, the second substantive Registrar of FUTA. He also served as Registrar, RUN from 2005 – 2011.Mr. Adebayo in the course of his tenure was known for solidifying the foundation of FUTA’S administrative structure, his astuteness and professionalism.  Speaking, as Chairman of the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape described Adebayo as a man of very strong principles, honor and excellence. He said it was common among Nigerians to only celebrate people when they are no more.  He said it was commendable and truly worthy of emulation that the Registry deemed it fit to celebrate a man whose stellar attributes earned him a place among the eggheads of University administration.

On his part the Registrar, Mr. Richard Arifalo described Mr. Adebayo as exceptional and outstanding.  He said the occasion was a memorable one for the Registry. He commended all staff of the Registry for their support and immense contributions towards the success of the programme. Mr. Arifalo also lauded the Registry of RUN for their kind gesture and inputs in ensuring that Mr. Adebayo is given a befitting celebration.

In a short exhortation, Elder Tunde Adesida said a life well lived is a life lived in the service of God and humanity. He said all humans are accountable to God for the lives they have been given and enjoined all present to rededicate themselves to God and eschew all firms of immorality and corrupt practices.

There were encomiums from several well-wishers such as former Vice Chancellors Professor Debo Adeyewa, RUN, and Registrar, RUN Mr. Olukayode Akindele who respectively described him as a quintessential administrator who has recorded landmarks in the passage of time. While giving the toast, foremost administrator, Mr. Ayo Ogunruku said Mr. Adebayo was successful because he had many successors. He said the registry of FUTA was waxing stronger because of his legacies.

In his response Mr. Adebayo expressed elation at the event organized for him. He said it came as a surprise to him adding that it was God’s own way of rewarding him for all his efforts put in at different phases of his career as an administrator. He appreciated the FUTA and RUN Registries for putting resources together to honour him and prayed that their labours in the service to God and humanity will never be in vain.
