ADEQUATE PREPARATION ENHANCES SUCCESS

-OKOGBUE TELLS PDS STUDENTS

The need to prepare, focus and aim high in the pursuit of academic endeavour to achieve excellence has been highlighted   by the Director, Centre for Continuing Education, Professor Emmanuel Okogbue of the Federal University of Technology, Akure. Professor Okogbue said this at the Orientation Programme organised for the 2019/2020 Pre-degree Science and University Advanced Basic Science (UABS) Students held at the Hill Top Auditorium of the University.  He congratulated the students for taking a step in the right direction and admonished them to face their studies and regard that assignment as  their primary duty in FUTA.  He reminded them not to be carried away by youthful exuberance as they do not have a matriculation number yet.  He urged them to report any sinister activity to relevant authority and warned them against being part of such activities.

Speaking at the programme, the Dean, Student Affairs, Professor Gbenga Onibi represented by Dr. Mrs. Adebimpe Olusanya commended the organisers of the programme and charged the students to make proper use of the opportunity given them.  He told them “The journey starts now”.  Onibi said the purpose of the programme was to ensure a safe landing for the students which may afford them better admission opportunities. He thanked the Management for constantly supporting the affairs of Students and wished all the students best of luck in their academic endeavours.

The Guest Speaker at the programme, a staff and an ex P. D. S. student, Mr. Olaiya Collins shared his personal experience and encouraged the student that no challenge is insurmountable.  He advised them to be weary of bad associations as evil communication corrupt good manners.  Mr. Olaiya urged the students to face their studies, obey constituted authority and leave every other thing to God. He said they should lay a good foundation for their eventual success in life through the programme.
